Fenor NS

Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents / Guardians,

A warm welcome to Fenor National School. On behalf of the school community, we hope you enjoy getting to know all about our wonderful school here in Fenor, Co. Waterford.

We are a mixed rural school from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We have two special classes for children with autism and an adjacent preschool and afterschool facility. Our pupils are full of energy and enthusiasm, and they are the impetus for everything we do as a school community. We pride ourselves in attaining high standards in the academic curriculum, but we endeavour to ensure each child has a sense of belonging in our school. We hope all our pupils feel safe and valued in Fenor NS. We want our pupils to have confidence in the path they travel and look out for one another and all they meet along the way.

Our staff are a dedicated team of 21. We are committed to continuous professional development and are enthusiastic about the developments in the National Curriculum. We are proud to welcome children from all corners of the world and embrace our Catholic ethos by building an environment that is warm, happy, and conducive to learning for all.

Our setting along the Copper Coast affords us the opportunity to avail of the beautiful surroundings of our school. We regularly visit our local Fenor bog and playpark and feel blessed to see first-hand, rural Ireland at its best.

We welcome any visitors to our school and would be honoured to host your child as they complete their primary school years with us.

Please browse our website to get a snapshot of what life is like as a Fenor N. S. pupil. Better still, why not make an appointment to come and see us anytime.

On Friday, the whole school came together to sing Circle of Friends, showing the power of friendship to all the children. Also on Friday, the children and  teachers wore Odd Socks to school to celebrate what makes us unique. To finish off the week,  children who made a particular effort to make and include everyone in their games received a 'Good Friend Award'. What a week!

Incubator Project 🐣🐥🐣🐥🐣🐥

The children in Fenor NS took part in the Incubator Project.  An incubator was delivered to us with seven fertile eggs which were laid by hens in Nore Valley Farm.

All the classes watched a video about the development and life cycle of a chicken and the hatching process. We eagerly watched the eggs for 3 weeks and were very excited when they started to hatch. We were delighted to welcome 6 healthy chicks who are named "Jeffrey, Sunny, Oreo, Lester, Chick Chick and Egbert".

Monday Dec. 14th: "Unity in Adversity Event' in aid of Pieta House

Check out the the Event HERE

The year of 2020 will forever be remembered as one of the most challenging in living history. The whole world was impacted when the Covid-19 pandemic, changed our daily lives and impacted us all. In adversity, we were unified in dealing with the task ahead of us- keeping apart from vulnerable loved ones, social distancing, washing our hands, working from home, distance learning -the list is endless.

Our family here in Fenor NS know there are many people in our lives who have struggled during this time, young and old. We want to send a message to highlight to the country the resilience of our nation. We want all to know that You Matter to Me’.

Sincere appreciation for the idea goes to Arthur Curry for wanting to deliver a message of hope and strength and inviting Fenor NS to share his idea. Thank you to Suir Engineering, for sponsoring the event.                                    Thank you to Tina Schley for taking the photos on the day, thank you to Ronan Flanagan and his team at Rescue 117 for sharing their overhead images and supporting mental health awareness. Thank you to Shay Fitzpatrick for the drone images and video and putting our final presentation video together.

We are proud to have fundraised for Pieta, Waterford and happy to have Olive Ruane of Pieta with us for the event. Massive thanks to all the staff and pupils here in Fenor NS for embracing the idea and conveying such enthusiasm, as is evident in the footage.

Thank you to all who have donated to our fundraiser to date.

This week, Junior & Senior Infants have been learning all about the 'spider'. The Junior Infants made illustrated reports about the spider & the Senior Infants wrote a report. They had great fun learning all about the spider!
