Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents / Guardians,

We are delighted to welcome you to our school website. Through this site you can keep up-to-date with what is happening in our school and celebrate all the learning and achievements that our children are doing on an ongoing basis. Fenor N. S. caters for pupils in a vibrant, dynamic and caring environment. It is fair to say no two days are the same as our school community engages in what is truly an education for life."

"Please browse our website to get a snapshot of what life is like as a Fenor N. S. pupil. Better still, why not make an appointment to come and see us anytime. You will be assured of a very warm welcome and you can experience first hand that something which is unique that defines Fenor N. S. as a school, is indeed very very special."

"We are also very proud to have two special classes for Autism in our school, where children with more complex special education needs can be educated, in smaller class groups, along side of the mainstream school. We are committed to the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in our mainstream school''.

Sincerely yours,

Tim O' Byrne, Principal

'One Kind Word' - Anti Bullying Week

Anti-bullying Week ran from the 15th to the 19th of November. The theme for this year’s week was ‘ONE KIND WORD’. During the week classes explored the topics of bullying, being a nice friend and the uniqueness of us all. It is hoped that by promoting the use of kind words, then one kind word will lead to another among the children in our school. Fifth and sixth class were visited by our friendly Community Garda who spoke with the children about Cyber Bullying. The whole school took part in Odd Socks Day and had an Outdoor Assembly around being kind and being a nice friend.

December School News

Every year we celebrate Christmas with a Carol Service or a Christmas Concert, which unfortunately couldn't happen this year! However, we decided we would share some Christmas Spirit with you by having a virtual Christmas Concert. Check it out Here

'Its Beginning to Look alot Like Christmas'

It is hard to believe December is here already! We are so grateful and thankful to acknowledge that school life has continued as normal as possible in such challenging circumstances for all. Despite everything, our school is 'beginning to look a lot like Christmas'! Our Christmas Tree is glistening, our Crib is awaiting the baby Jesus and our classroom doors are decorated with inviting Christmas characters and scenes. This year we decided we would postpone any fundraising activities in aid of the school until the New Year. But we do have some wonderful fundraisers to look forward to over the coming weeks.

Also, remember to follow us on Twittter to check out the lovely artwork the children are doing in school or have a look at their class pages.

Check out the the Event HERE

The year of 2020 will forever be remembered as one of the most challenging in living history. The whole world was impacted when the Covid-19 pandemic, changed our daily lives and impacted us all. In adversity, we were unified in dealing with the task ahead of us- keeping apart from vulnerable loved ones, social distancing, washing our hands, working from home, distance learning -the list is endless.

Our family here in Fenor NS know there are many people in our lives who have struggled during this time, young and old. We want to send a message to highlight to the country the resilience of our nation. We want all to know that You Matter to Me’.

Sincere appreciation for the idea goes to Arthur Curry for wanting to deliver a message of hope and strength and inviting Fenor NS to share his idea. Thank you to Suir Engineering, for sponsoring the event. Thank you to Tina Schley for taking the photos on the day, thank you to Ronan Flanagan and his team at Rescue 117 for sharing their overhead images and supporting mental health awareness. Thank you to Shay Fitzpatrick for the drone images and video and putting our final presentation video together.

We are proud to have fundraised for Pieta, Waterford and happy to have Olive Ruane of Pieta with us for the event. Massive thanks to all the staff and pupils here in Fenor NS for embracing the idea and conveying such enthusiasm, as is evident in the footage.

Thank you to all who have donated to our fundraiser to date.
