Fenor NS

Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents / Guardians,

A warm welcome to Fenor National School. On behalf of the school community, we hope you enjoy getting to know all about our wonderful school here in Fenor, Co. Waterford.

We are a mixed rural school from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We have two special classes for children with autism and an adjacent preschool and afterschool facility. Our pupils are full of energy and enthusiasm, and they are the impetus for everything we do as a school community. We pride ourselves in attaining high standards in the academic curriculum, but we endeavour to ensure each child has a sense of belonging in our school. We hope all our pupils feel safe and valued in Fenor NS. We want our pupils to have confidence in the path they travel and look out for one another and all they meet along the way.

Our staff are a dedicated team of 21. We are committed to continuous professional development and are enthusiastic about the developments in the National Curriculum. We are proud to welcome children from all corners of the world and embrace our Catholic ethos by building an environment that is warm, happy, and conducive to learning for all.

Our setting along the Copper Coast affords us the opportunity to avail of the beautiful surroundings of our school. We regularly visit our local Fenor bog and playpark and feel blessed to see first-hand, rural Ireland at its best.

We welcome any visitors to our school and would be honoured to host your child as they complete their primary school years with us.

Please browse our website to get a snapshot of what life is like as a Fenor N. S. pupil. Better still, why not make an appointment to come and see us anytime.

Senior Infants made sets of seven recently and used their maths eyes to find sets of seven around the room. They also went on a 2D shape hunt in the school garden and drew pictures of items they found. Aswell as Maths, in their station play they were playing roll and colour, threading patterns using beads and making items for the supermarket using playdoh and mats. They are exploring the theme 'shopping' this month as part of integrated learning so designed their own shop. They made shopping lists and price tags for the shop, they created items and characters for the shop out of stickle bricks and used blocks to create villages with shops. They listened to stories about shopping and retold rhymes. Check out lots more photos HERE.

Friendship Week November '24

We were delighted to welcome 6 healthy chicks who are named "Jeffrey, Sunny, Oreo, Lester, Chick Chick and Egbert".

All the children  have had the opportunity to view the chicks daily and to hold them.  We will miss them when they return to Nore Valley Farm, but hopefully some of our pupils will visit them this summer

Anti-bullying Week ran from the 15th to the 19th of November. The theme for this year’s week was ‘ONE KIND WORD’. During the week classes explored the topics of bullying, being a nice friend and the uniqueness of us all. It is hoped that by promoting the use of kind words, then one kind word will lead to another among the children in our school. Fifth and sixth class were visited by our friendly Community Garda who spoke with the children about Cyber Bullying. The whole school took part in Odd Socks Day and had an Outdoor Assembly around being kind and being a nice friend.

Every year we celebrate Christmas with a Carol Service or a  Christmas Concert, which unfortunately couldn't  happen this year! However, we decided we would share some Christmas Spirit with you by having a virtual Christmas Concert. Check it out  Here
