Fenor NS

Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents / Guardians,

We are delighted to welcome you to our school website. Through this site you can keep up-to-date with what is happening in our school and celebrate all the learning and achievements that our children are doing on an ongoing basis. Fenor N. S. caters for pupils in a vibrant, dynamic and caring environment. It is fair to say no two days are the same as our school community engages in what is truly an education for life."

"Please browse our website to get a snapshot of what life is like as a Fenor N. S. pupil. Better still, why not make an appointment to come and see us anytime. You will be assured of a very warm welcome and you can experience first hand that something which is unique that defines Fenor N. S. as a school, is indeed very very special."

"We are also very proud to have two special classes for Autism in our school, where children with more complex special education needs can be educated, in smaller class groups, along side of the mainstream school. We are committed to the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in our mainstream school''.

Sincerely yours,

Tim O' Byrne, Principal

Anti-Bullying Week 2022 πŸ§¦πŸ€—πŸŒ

Anti-bullying week took place in Fenor NS from 14th to the 18th of November. The theme of this year's Anti-Bullying Week was Reach Out. Whether it is in school, or at home in the community or online, we are encouraging children to Reach Out and show each other the support and friendships they might need.

The children had so much fun on Tuesday, learning lots of new skipping games from a super skipping coach.

On Friday, the whole school came together to sing Circle of Friends, showing the power of friendship to all the children. Also on Friday, the children and teachers wore Odd Socks to school to celebrate what makes us unique. To finish off the week, children who made a particular effort to make and include everyone in their games received a 'Good Friend Award'. What a week!

Incubator Project 🐣πŸ₯🐣πŸ₯🐣πŸ₯

The children in Fenor NS took part in the Incubator Project. An incubator was delivered to us with seven fertile eggs which were laid by hens in Nore Valley Farm.

All the classes watched a video about the development and life cycle of a chicken and the hatching process. We eagerly watched the eggs for 3 weeks and were very excited when they started to hatch. We were delighted to welcome 6 healthy chicks who are named "Jeffrey, Sunny, Oreo, Lester, Chick Chick and Egbert".

All the children have had the opportunity to view the chicks daily and to hold them. We will miss them when they return to Nore Valley Farm, but hopefully some of our pupils will visit them this summer

'One Kind Word' - Anti Bullying Week Nov. 2021

Anti-bullying Week ran from the 15th to the 19th of November. The theme for this year’s week was β€˜ONE KIND WORD’. During the week classes explored the topics of bullying, being a nice friend and the uniqueness of us all. It is hoped that by promoting the use of kind words, then one kind word will lead to another among the children in our school. Fifth and sixth class were visited by our friendly Community Garda who spoke with the children about Cyber Bullying. The whole school took part in Odd Socks Day and had an Outdoor Assembly around being kind and being a nice friend.

Monday Dec. 14th: "Unity in Adversity Event' in aid of Pieta House

Check out the the Event HERE

The year of 2020 will forever be remembered as one of the most challenging in living history. The whole world was impacted when the Covid-19 pandemic, changed our daily lives and impacted us all. In adversity, we were unified in dealing with the task ahead of us- keeping apart from vulnerable loved ones, social distancing, washing our hands, working from home, distance learning -the list is endless.

Our family here in Fenor NS know there are many people in our lives who have struggled during this time, young and old. We want to send a message to highlight to the country the resilience of our nation. We want all to know that β€˜You Matter to Me’.

Sincere appreciation for the idea goes to Arthur Curry for wanting to deliver a message of hope and strength and inviting Fenor NS to share his idea. Thank you to Suir Engineering, for sponsoring the event. Thank you to Tina Schley for taking the photos on the day, thank you to Ronan Flanagan and his team at Rescue 117 for sharing their overhead images and supporting mental health awareness. Thank you to Shay Fitzpatrick for the drone images and video and putting our final presentation video together.

We are proud to have fundraised for Pieta, Waterford and happy to have Olive Ruane of Pieta with us for the event. Massive thanks to all the staff and pupils here in Fenor NS for embracing the idea and conveying such enthusiasm, as is evident in the footage.

Thank you to all who have donated to our fundraiser to date.

This week, Junior & Senior Infants have been learning all about the 'spider'. The Junior Infants made illustrated reports about the spider & the Senior Infants wrote a report. They had great fun learning all about the spider!

They also learned about hairdressers & 'Crazy Hair Styles', 'Houses' and created fabulous art about 'The Tiger who Came to Tea', and lots more!
